Scott A. Laterra
Scott is a partner at Laterra & Hodge, LLC, where he practices exclusively in the area of divorce and family law. Scott is a Certified Matrimonial Trial Attorney as well as a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Scott received his Bachelor of Arts from Rider University in 1996 with a Degree in creative writing, and his Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1999.
Upon graduating from law school, Scott was admitted to the New Jersey State Bar in 1999, and served as the law clerk for the Honorable Patrick J. Roma, Superior Court of Bergen County, Chancery Division: Family Part from September 1999 through August 2000.
Scott has been an active member of the New Jersey State Bar, a past chair of the Young Lawyers Committee of the Family Law Section of the State Bar, and a past member of the Family Law Executive Committee of the Family Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar. He sits as an Early Settlement Panelist in Bergen County, and is a Court-approved divorce mediator.
Scott has authored and co-authored several articles dealing with family law issues that have been published in the New Jersey Lawyers, the New Jersey Law Journal, and the American Trial Lawyers Association Seminar Handbook. Scott has been retained as an expert in the field of family law in connection with legal malpractice cases.
In his spare time, Scott is a year-round New Jersey High School wrestling enthusiast, and can often be found inside of a gym cheering on his sons’ wrestling team. He also devotes time toward his creating writing endeavors, which includes both novels and screenplays. Scott is also actively working toward the launch of two podcasts and accompanying websites: wrestledad.com. and litigationsucks.com—the latter of which will serve as an open forum on the trials and tribulations inherent in the practice of family law.
